Understanding the Effects of Mental Illness

This course is the preferred course requested by corporate oganisations.  It has been

delivered to 200 people in the workplace over the last  6 months.  Evaluations suggest

that all participants have an increased awareness of mental illness and gain useful

tools in identification and effective communication when communicating with someone

who is affected by a mental illness.                     

Understanding the Effects of Mental Illness is unique, as Positive Attitude Mental Health

will tailor the course to meet the training requirements and occupational requirements of 

the requesting organisation. 

The course can be delivered in 2 x 4 hours sessions, which meets the alloted time

considerations of  most staff development training sessions.

Outline of Training:

Is a one day (8 hour) course that takes a look at Depression/Suicide, Anxiety Disorders,

Psychoses (Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder) and Substance Use Disorder. 

 It addresses the signs, symtpoms, causative factors and treatment options in relation

to each illness and includes useful and practical information about effective

communication and assistance that people can provide to someone affected with a

mental health problem.

Cost of Course:

The course is costed at $100 per hour, with an additional $5 per participant for

information cd's provided, along with $15 per hour travelling expenses.  These fees are

exclusive of GST. 

The average course cost is $1000 - $1300 per day (inclusive of gst).  If training is

provided in the north of the state then an additional $110 is added for accommodation).

Positive Attitude Mental Health will train a maximum of 25 participants per course,

which means that your workplace can gain specialist training at a potential cost of

$40 per participant.
